Google I/O dates officially revealed; application process will start February 22

Towards the end of last month, Google announced the time and location of its I/O developer conference in a cryptic message on Twitter. Today, the I/O website has been properly updated and is also giving out details about the application process for those that want to attend.

While the developer conference used to be on a first come, first serve basis, the past few years have seen an incredible surge of folks trying to attend, leaving many out in the cold. Google changed the application format by making it a random drawing. As noted on the I/O website, the application process will start on February 22 at 10am PT and will end February 27 at 5pm PT.

Google did offer a couple things to keep in mind while applying which have been detailed below.

Keep in mind:

— The order in which applications are received has no bearing on the outcome. Applicants will be chosen at random after the drawing application window has ended.

— Only one application per person is allowed.

— The selected applicants will be automatically charged and will receive their ticket via email on February 28th.

Google’s I/O 2017 will be located at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, for the second year in a row and will take place over three days starting on May 17.
